one month! {31/365}

Well holy crap. I've reached the end of the month and I'm still here! Go me! And 'go you!' to all my fellow 365'ers. I've been loving everything about this project (even if it HAS taken over my poor blog) including the shots you guys have been taking.

Not much phototakin' going on around here today though. I've been working on the design portion of this place, finished a few little jobs for others, and mostly got caught up in this ...

love love love Marian Keyes.

I switched this over to black and white because the cover of this awesomely written book is equally awesomely ugly.  Seriously!  I'm pretty big on covers when I'm searching out a new read.  The cover is what catches your eye, and this one most definitely did NOT catch my eye.  It's shiny gold.  Yes, gold.   And that star is pink.  Yes, pink.  And the lettering is ... green.  omg.

Nevermind, I'll show you ... look!  ewwwwww!

It's a good thing Marian's name is so big, or I might've passed this over.  The story is pure awesome so off I go to read some more.

Happy one month!  Eleven more to go :)

graffiti {30/365}

I went back to the train yard today, thinking I'd work on practicing my manual settings.  I'm happy to say it went pretty well!  Yesterday, I learned a lot about what NOT to do and played around a bit this morning before I went out.

I have to say though, fiddling around with settings when it's -16C  is not a whole lot of fun.

But this is ...

hurt {28/365}

Daisy puppy gave me quite the scare today.

She also gave me quite the vet bill.

She's home and doing well.  Nothing some good antibiotics won't clear up in a few days.

Thank God.

cracked {27/365}

I had no idea what to shoot today.  I'm sure it won't be the last time that happens.

So I went in the green bin and got the eggshells from last night's banana bread.  Shush ... they were clean.

Being another dreary winter day, I didn't have much to work with in the way of light.  I took this on top of my stove with the light from the hood vent and omg I can't stand that pink tone.

Anyway, it's all I've got today.

Well, besides this, because you know I can't stop myself from mucking around ...

cracked

Hello?  texture-making-people?  I have an unhealthy addiction and you're feeding it.  (thank you!)

I used three different textures, all from Paree Erica who is so astoundingly talented, I have no words.  Seriously, go have a look at her work and tell me you don't leave in awe.  She's amazing.

So tell me something ... I was really tempted to use the textured shot for my 365 today.  But then I felt weird about it, because that's not what my project was supposed to be about.  In my mind, I set out to do this to  learn more about my camera and photography in general, post processing included.  But texture is beyond post processing, isn't it?  And it's not really what I set out to do, but I'm so intrigued by it and honestly, can't stay away from it.

Problem!

Hmmmm ... maybe next year I'll do a year of textures?  Hey!  That could be a plan ...
