bloomed {120/365}

Worth the wait, no?

120/365

It's funny how you sometimes don't notice things when snapping away.  I was so zoned in on getting the middle focused and sharp that I didn't even see those water droplets.  They were a nice surprise when I opened this on my screen.

Duh, me.

Have a wonderful weekend :)

other signs of spring {119/365}

Daughter slept in and missed her bus this morning, so I drove her to her middle-of-nowhere school for the second time this week.  I don't mind though.  There's no snow on the ground and it's a nice drive.  And daughter is Chatty Cathy when we're alone in the car, so that's always fun (and usually informative - yay! for chatty cathys).

Plus there's the added bonus of driving past one of my favourite places.

Another sure sign of Spring?  Babies!

day 119

Now, how cute is that?

and this?

from day 119

Lookit that little cutie checking me over.

How about this one?  all together now ... awwwwwww!

from day 119

I hung out there for almost an hour, snapping away.  And I'm not sure where my brain was at but I didn't set my exposure.  At all.  The sun was already really bright and directly in front of me, so everything was horribly over exposed, with the dark bits of the horses a blob of black.  I would've been better off shooting in auto.  Very disappointing.  I blame the early hour and lack of sufficient caffeine.

So yeah, a lot of lightroom adjustments going on here.

But whatever :p

Check out this little one in the background, kicking up dust ...

from day 119

ha!  All over the place and full of - as my grandmother would say - piss and vinegar.  I figured out why when HE got a little closer to me.  Yes, HE.  ummm ... let's just say the evidence was prominently on display. *ahem.

from day 119

So beautiful. I want to live there.  I wonder if they'll give me a job.  hmmmm ...

I have to say though, when you're zoomed in on a horse, and it starts galloping towards you, it can freak you right the hell out.

from day 119

Objects in viewfinder are NOT closer than they appear.  No need to panic.

(loving those dust trails)

My favourite, and my shot for today ...

119/365

She's a beauty.  Love that sun hitting her back (even if it did screw up my shots).

Gorgeous.

Did I mention I want to live here?

No?

from day 119

ummm ... I'll just follow them home. Maybe nobody will notice.

and then there was ice cream {118/365}

or maybe not ...

This other shack is off to the right of the building ...

from day 118

Can't lie - I took these yesterday on my road trip travels.  But! I processed them today, so that counts.

I said so.

I used the preset I mentioned yesterday and it's working like a charm, I think.  Still liking it!

antique roadshow {117/365}

Today was a perfect day for touring around.  Bright, sunny and clear but holy crap chilly!  So I took full advantage of the (somewhat) gorgeous day and hopped in the car.  Plus I'd promised daughter I'd drive her to her middle-of-nowhere school.

And than I ended up here ...

117/365

I took a ton of shots and scored an old wooden pop crate for $8. Go me!

While processing these, I was trying to get a retro/vintage, kind of cross-processed look and ended up making my own preset. Well actually, I made four, each one slightly different (sharper, softer, lighter, etc).  Fun! I love it. I may hate it tomorrow, but I'm loving it right now.

117-before-and-after

So yeah, before and after.  What do you think? I know of at least one person who's going to like the original better. *ahem.  Looking at it, I probably could've eased up on the contrast a tad. meh.

I need a name for it.  I keep thinking Route66, but that might be just because of the photos.  Or the fact that I'd rather be driving there than here?

A few more from today (click through to view larger on flickr).  I still need to upload the rest ...

from day 117 from day 117

from day 117 from day 117

I processed all of them with that preset. The only thing I opened PS for was the watermark. One of these days I'll learn a quicker way to do that.
