allium {146/365}

It's an Allium.
umm ... Allium Globus.
and that's pretty much all there is to say about that :)

love/hate relationship {145/365}

The image is everywhere ... on the walls of our homes, stamped on fabric, adorning stationary...

You'll find it drawn, painted, etched, photographed ...

And what I, and countless other women, wouldn't give to once more see chubby little fingers offering up a yellow bouquet and giggling "pretty flowers for you mommy!"

But let them dare show up in our yards?

145/365

ooooohh ... it's war.  Game on.
It's all so very unappreciative of us.  tsk-tsk.

Happy Bench Monday! {144/365}

Happy Bench Monday!

The DaisyPuppy edition :)

144/365 HBM!

Technically, my feet should be in this shot too.  But although I'm getting good with the timer on my camera, I can't perform miracles and try to keep DaisyPuppy still and not chase me while I run back and forth from camera to bench. The jumping around is too much for her excited little self to handle.

I need a remote.  Feel free to send me any you may have laying about :)

Here's another ...

from day 144

See?  She's exhausted now.  Poor puppy.  And she'd greatly appreciate it if you'd just go ahead and ignore the scruffy state of her fur.  And the fact that it appears that she has no eyeballs due to the scruffy state of her fur.

She missed her last spa appointment.  Her alarm clock didn't go off.

LeeAnn {143/365}

It's the long weekend here in Canada. The first long weekend of 'summer'.

It's also my best friend's birthday.

Traditionally, she and I would spend every May long weekend together and celebrate. I can't remember the last time I made any type of plans for this weekend that didn't include her.

Lee & I - 1987ish

Lee & I - 1987ish

This is my second year without her.

She followed not too far behind my Mom, both of them hammered down by the hateful Big 'C'. The two people who knew me the best and the longest (her, over twenty years), both gone within two short years of each other.

*sigh*

Lee and I had a lot of plans. We were going to travel. We were going to dress in purple and wear big sloppy red hats and see the world. We were going to grow old and complain about brittle bones and improper bowel movements, 'those young people these days' and the overall mess of the world in general. She was going to be the crazy cat lady and I was going to be her oldest and dearest friend.

We always planned to go to New Orleans. That was one of our 'gotta do it' trips. After she passed, one of the things I took home with me from her place was these guys ...

143/365

They remind me of her.

Happy Birthday to my oldest, dearest friend.  Sister of my heart.  I hope that today, wherever you are, you're wearing a big, sloppy, stunningly gorgeous red hat and raising your glass to us all.

I miss you all ways, always.

jimmy the lilac {142/365}

If lilacs bloomed all summer, I'd be a happy woman.  Out of the five bushes I have (and one topiary) I'd be hard pressed to choose a favourite.

Meet Jimmy aka Jimmy the Lilac (not to be confused with Jimmy the Greek) ...

142/365

Jimmy is short for James.  James Macfarlane to be proper (no I haven't lost it, click the link). He's a quiet sort and prefers to remain somewhat half-bloomed like this, instead of putting on a full blown show like his friends.  He doesn't smell much either, totally out of character for a male.

But he's gorgeous, isn't he?  Tall too ;)
