fenced {183/365}

I've been thinking it's Saturday all day today.

It's a good thing I sorted that out, because I didn't have a shot for today and apparently no brain to come up with something.

Thank goodness for flickr groups!

Happy Fence Friday!

O'Canada, eh? {182/365}

On this day, across our fair land, Canadians young and old are celebrating the birth of our Country on July 1st, 1867.

(in reality, we all have the day off work and can probably be found sitting on a case of beer somewhere near a bonfire)

(outside our igloos)

(with a moose)

(eh???)

fireworks for Canada Day (day 182 alternate)

We Canadians are a proud bunch.  The fact that our "I AM CANADIAN" slogan comes from a case of beer, has nothing to do with nothing.

Just look at what we have going for us ...

  • Smarties
  • Crispy Crunch & Coffee Crisp (you guys just do NOT know how to do chocolate)
  • Lacrosse is Canadian
  • Hockey is Canadian
  • Basketball is Canadian
  • Tim Horton's kicks Starbucks ass
  • In the war of 1812, started by America, Canadians pushed the Americans back, past their White House. And then we burnt it down, along with most of Washington, under the command of William Lyon Mackenzie who was drunk for most of it.
  • Canada has the largest French population that never surrendered to Germany
  • Canada has the largest English population that never surrendered or withdrew during any war to anyone, anywhere
  • Canada made plaid cool long before Seattle caught on
  • The Hudson Bay Company once owned over 10% of the earth's surface and is still around as the world's oldest company
  • We invented the television, the light bulb, ski-doos, jet-skis, velcro, the zipper, insulin, penicillin, zambonis, the telephone, walkie-talkies, shortwave radios and pagers, and peanut butter, to name a few
  • oh, and snowblowers, of course
  • have a Blackberry?  Canadian!
  • Canadians consume more mac & cheese than any other nation on earth
  • We are the second largest country in the world.
  • Our elections only take ONE DAY
  • Contrary to popular opinion, Canada does not own the North Pole.  The North Pole is not owned by any country.  It's believed, however, that Santa Clause is Canadian.

O'Canada 182/365

So yeah ... Happy Canada Day!

eh :)
