No time for a 365 Project?
OR
been there, done that and want to keep going withOUT the daily 365 pressure?
52 weeks - do as much or as little as you like and post once a week.
Easy-Peasy :)
Everybody welcome, all skill levels, in any medium. Shoot, paint, write, cook, scrapbook ... whatever you're into.
Link up weekly, here and on flickr.
Improve your skills by doing.
a bit about focus52:
Heading towards the end of my Project365, I started to wonder, 'what next?'. Although I wouldn't trade the experience of my 365 for anything, and I'm thrilled with everything I've learned, I couldn't wrap my head around another year of daily shooting and posting. It's not the shooting that's the problem, it's everything else that comes along with it - daily uploading, editing, posting to wherever I need to post, linking up here and there ... it's a lot.
Sometimes you just want your couch and the remote, y'know?
But I also couldn't wrap my head around NOT having a project and continuing to learn. I love what I'm doing and the friends I've made along the way and the thought of not being involved in all of that just wasn't thrilling me in the slightest.
Solution? weekly.
hallelujah.
Shoot as much as you want - one day a week or all seven. BUT! you only have to post once a week. How's that for taking the pressure off?
no pressure!
Weeks will run Sunday to Saturday. The flickr group pool and the linky list here, will refresh each Sunday night. You're invited to visit here and enjoy a weekly prompt - totally up to you if you want to use it or not. Whatever feels right for you, do it. Just be sure to link up your week before the new week starts, Sunday evening. The linky list on the blog here is open all week.
For the first week of 2012, things are working out nicely with the 1st falling on a Sunday.
Pretty convenient ;)
So your first week will be January 1 - 7. Make sense?
start now or start later
If you missed the January 1st start date, you can still start your project. Start anytime you want! Just like a 365, it is YOUR project. Jump in now and figure out when your 52 weeks end date will be. The focus52 flickr group will ALWAYS be open, so there's no need to worry about where you'll post your weeks next year.
I'll likely be right there with you, doing this again ;)
(and I am - this is year two!)
not just for shooters
Your 52 weeks project doesn't have to be about photography. This group is open to all forms of creativity (hence the '52 weeks creative project').
Do you live to write? Sit yourself down at least once a week and get writing and then link it up here. You could take a screenshot of your post for the week and link that up in the flickr group too, if you like.
Scrapbooking is your thing? How about knitting, cooking, painting, drawing, etc etc etc ... anything!
Just do it.
Once a week.
Not so hard, right?
The posts and prompts here will be primarily geared towards photography, but I'm sure you won't have a problem.
have fun!
Your project should be a fun thing, not a chore. Focus52 is meant to be pressure and stress free (for the most part, anyway. heh) and a fun group for everyone. To that end, I'm also planning a few fun things throughout the year, as well as a few freebies here and there for those who link up. Last year's freebies were a huge hit and I hope to have more this year. We'll see.
And there's nothing like a few groups and friends to give you that little nudge to keep going. I don't think I would've finished my 365 otherwise. Announcing your intentions to everybody who will listen with half an ear makes you stay on course too - the more people who know what you're up to, the better. Kind of makes you feel like a dufus if you quit ;)
Why do you think I'm making all of you join me?
So? add your name to the participant list, join the flickr group, shout your intentions far and wide and get creating!
