lunch! {67/365}

BLT on a toasted bagel.  Yum!

As for the Roll Up The Rim … hello Tim Horton’s?  I’m your biggest fan.  Do try harder to give me a winning cup one of these years, will ya?

fade & burn {66/365}

I thought I’d try something a little different…

66/365

I drove past this old … (whatever it is) today and remembered exploring the place quite a few summers ago.  I love doing that – finding an old falling down place and rummaging around.

It can be dangerous though, and on that day, I remember walking along the crumbling wall of the barn that’s back there a little further beyond the trees.  I slipped, and would’ve plunged about two stories down if I wouldn’t have thrown myself in the opposite direction.

Fun times.

Today though, this is as close as I could get.  I’m not a huge fan of knee-high snow.

Anyways, there’s three textures on here, after desaturating and warming it up a bit.  One of the textures is an old tin photo plate.   Cool.

This is the original, which wasn’t great to begin with, which is why I didn’t feel bad destroying it further.  But I just love the crumbling mess of the place.

spooked {65/365}

I need to stop going to these kinds of places by myself.  I scare too easily.

65/365

Although I truly appreciate the beauty of places like this (otherwise why would I be there?) it usually only takes me about five or ten minutes to start freaking myself out.  I’m okay at first, happy and snapping away … and then I’ll hear some stupid noise, or see a shadow out of the corner of my eye (hopefully imaginary), and that’s that.  I’m spooked.

But I’ll tough it out for at least another few minutes.
(there’s a couple more shots on my flickr)

And then I hightail it home, really fast.

gotcha! {64/365}

I think I finally hit this at the right time of day!  YAY!

64/365

All I had to adjust this time was the white balance.  Still can’t seem to get that right.  I even tried leaving it on auto but that still came out blue, so whatever.  If even Canon doesn’t know what to make of it, I sure don’t either.  heh.

I think I’m still going to try it again in the summertime though.   I can’t seem to stay away from that place.  Plus, it’s a welcome little assignment when I can’t think of anything else to shoot!

Maybe I should rename my 365 project to Trains & Barns?  LOL …

faux spring {63/365}

Another beautiful day today.  So gorgeous that I find myself with a case of Spring Fever, yet stuck with the dilemma of a good three feet of snow still covering my little piece of the world.

So I put a plant in the sunshine and played with the DOF for awhile. ha!  Take THAT winter.

And I’ve solved my problem (for the time being) with the nasty quality of my uploaded images here.  Y’know what I did?

I stopped uploading them.

That’s straight from flickr, and although I find it to be a pain in the ass (all those extra steps) it’s worth it to see the better quality.

Here, I’ll show you.

uploaded through wordpress

See the difference?  I’ve yet to figure out what gets lost in translation here.  I’ve never delved into the workings of a purely image driven site before, simply because I never had the need to do so.  And honestly, I didn’t notice the difference until I posted the shots from mcdonalds the other day.   But now it bugs me.  And if you know me at all, you’ll know that when something bugs me, I HAVE to get to the bottom of it.  heh.

I’m anal stubborn like that.
