the elements [46/52]

As I mentioned in the link up, when I decided that this week's prompt would be "the elements", I swear Mama Nature looked down on me and had a good ol' giggle. We've gone from sweaters, to t-shirts, to parkas and back again this week. Crazy, crazy weather.

And it snowed! Now, you might hear me groaning about this come January, but right now it puts me in a happy (festive!) mood.

Anyway, it was just a dusting. No harm in that.

No snowshovels either!

Driving home on Thursday, I slammed on the brakes when I saw this ...

stormy skies

Sunny skies to the left of me and stormy ones to the right made for a really cool scene with the setting sun lighting up this barn like a movie set. You can see it reflecting off of the lighter skies behind the barn too. It had just started to snow when I snapped this. Hence the spots. Bit of light contrast here and web sharpening. That's it. It really was this cool (click through to view larger on flickr).

The morning after, and me keeping myself occupied in the drive-thru lane.

this way to hot coffee

Gotta have my Tims in the morning :)

(love those bokeh snowflakes!)

Saturday, after driving daughter to work, I made my over to Island Lake and had a walk around. Good for the soul, that place.

good morning

I have a few more to share from that morning. Another day.

It's warmed up a bit but I think we've seen the last of our prolonged Indian Summer. Snowy skies from here on in, I'll bet.

I'll be the one humming Christmas carols ;)

harvest [42/52]

I have to admit I didn't get out much this week to take photos of everything I'd wanted to. Big fat pumpkins, a trip to the Farmer's Market ... these things were in the cards.

It seems my body had different ideas and elected to spend the later part of the week in bed. ugh.

So I was pretty glad that I'd already gone out earlier in the week, my camera and I, just goofing around. I got a few nice shots.

This house fascinates me. All old houses do. I want to explore and check things out. Unfortunately, I'm always by myself when I'm by this place and way too chickenshit to head in there on my own.

Plus, y'know, a roof falling in on your head or a floor giving out on you isn't a good thing. Not to mention whatever has taken up residence in there. ack!

last house on the left

I pulled over for a quick shot of some cattails. It was pretty windy and a little difficult to catch them.

Cattails are cool. The remind me of my childhood.

here kitty, kitty ...

This field? Gorgeous.

autumn harvest

I wish I would've been able to get in lower for that shot. But that would have involved a ten foot ditch and a creek. heh.

And then we have this beauty. Not the first shot I've taken of this barn, and probably won't be my last. I love the way it sits up on the hill like that, old and proud.

She's magnificent.

old glory

And of course, I couldn't resist adding a few textures. Barns just scream at me to do that ;)

crisp {343/365}

There is definitely a bite in the air these days.

But when the sun comes out on a crisp winter morning, everything looks picture perfect :)

sometimes you just don't have a title {336/365}

It's a barn :)

Is it Friday yet? My brain has had enough of this week and has, apparently, shut down.

If you have a title for this, please share :)
