up on the hill {299/365}

I've been meaning to stop and take pictures of this barn for I don't know how long.

Driving by the other day, I noticed that one side had collapsed.

So today, I stopped.

up on the hill 299/365

Better late than never (which could quite feasibly be any day now, heh).

I really hope they try to fix it, although looking at it, that seems next to impossible, doesn't it?

What a shame.

Bigger shame if I miss out on some of that gorgeous barn wood ;)

A dull rainy background (this weather is nasty!), made interesting with the help of a few textures from the brilliant Jerry over at Shadowhouse Creations.

i heart lilacs {153/365}

You were expecting a plain old lilac, weren't you ... tsk-tsk ...

153/365

The petals from one of the most fragrant lilacs I have, and for the life of me, I can't remember it's name. And really, do you call them petals? They're not really petals ... more like teeny flowers themselves.

Beats me.

They smell fantastic though.

So I have a bowl full of these and I need to search out the web for ideas on what to do with them, or if there even is something I can do with them. No idea. Will they keep their scent awhile like lavender? Will they dry out nicely or just turn into a wilted soggy mess? Questions, questions.

Anyways ...

This was shot with my fancy lighting system again and there are five different textures on there too, all from Jerry Jones - aka Skeletal Mess  (who, I'll say it again, kicks ass) of Shadowhouse Creations.

Could you tell it was a heart?  Or did it just look like a big ol' blob of pink? :p

market mums {133/365}

My Husband gave me mums on Mother's Day. hardi-har-har.

I turned them into this ...

133/365

Fun!  I started out with a few actions and some adjustment layers and then I threw a few textures on there, most notably 'market square' from the talented Kim Klassen. Pretty, isn't it?   Check out her photo stream ... seriously beautiful.  And her textures are for sale now!  Go Kim!

And now I'm late posting this because I messed around for over an hour trying to get a mouseover code to work for the before and after.

I stand defeated.

For now, anyways.

So yeah, no fancy mouseover lookit me code happening here.  Here's the before ...

133-original

I love playing around with textures. The only drawback is that I can quite lose track of time messing around trying to get things looking just the way I want them. Before you know it, I have fifteen layers going on in photoshop and I'm ready to hit delete and start over because I've thoroughly confused myself. heh.

I suppose there are worse ways to spend my time ;)

work in progress {51/365}

This two-page layout has been sitting on my desk forever (shush Laura)...

I started this at the beginning of last summer (shush!) and then got sidetracked by the main floor renovations I threw myself into.  It's not that I have a lot of work left to do on this, so I really should set aside an hour one day to finish it up.  All that's left are some butterflies that I need to make and maybe a few flower embellishments.  An hour, tops.

But then again, I'm kind of used to seeing it here beside me everyday :)

texture {32/365}

I messed around with textures for a good few hours today.  It's a problem.  How do you know when you're done?  Are you EVER really done?

For somebody with mild OCD tendencies and a strong lean towards perfectionism ... ummmm ... yeah, not good.  Not good at all.

Screw it!  I heart textures :)

It's not exactly the look I was going for, but I'm okay with it.  I've lost track of whatever I've done here.  There's a few different textures, a few curve changes and some noise added, and gawd knows what else.  The lines bother me a bit.  I think I should have taken away a little from the nose and face, and having a look at it now, it appears somebody punched me in the chin.  But ... like I said - are you ever done?

So what do you think?  Textures is brand new territory for me and some constructive criticism would be great.

And helpful :)
