smile! {169/365}

More of a smirk, I'd say ...

smile! 169/365

"Smile" is the prompt for today, the last day (sob) of Creativity Boot Camp.

I'd prefer to be sobbing, but it turns out that Maegan isn't deserting us or throwing us to the wolves.  Oh no, she isn't!

In an effort to help you keep your creative fires burning and to foster the relationships and the community that we’ve all developed here at CBC, I’m going to be starting a new series over at my personal blog, Life Set to Words. Each Sunday, I will be giving a weekly creative prompt along with a weekly post where we can all link our work. I will post the week’s theme on Sunday morning and you can link up through the entire week. The themes will start next Sunday, June 27th.

The Sunday Creative

Maegan, you are amazing.  I've thoroughly enjoyed Boot Camp and I think I can honestly say that my photography has gotten a real kick in the butt during the past two weeks.  I've challenged myself, and had fun doing it, every step of the way.

(sshhhh ... let's just forget about yesterday shall we?)

Added bonus?  Meeting so many awesomely talented people, not only photographers but writers, painters, designers ... you name it, and I'm so happy that I'll still be able to meet up with my fellow boot campers.

I'll be hanging out at Maegan's place next Sunday, count on it.

smooth {168/365}

The prompt for Day 12 of Creativity Boot Camp is "smooth".

O.M.G.

I struggled with this all day.

ALL. DAY.

ugh.

I'm not even going to start listing how many things I tried or how many shots I took.  They were all crapola in the end.

And honestly?  I think it's just me.  I think I've been my own worst enemy today.  And holy hell, I'm cranky.  I don't think cranky and creativity mix well.  And being cranky is not a natural state for me.  I like to be happy girl.  Being cranky makes me ... well, cranky.  heh.

My shot for today ...

Smooth :)

And how was YOUR day?

hush {167/365}

The prompt for Day 11 at Creativity Boot Camp is "hush".

Babies.  That's what that word brings to mind.  Specifically, my precious little one, so many years ago now but how can it seem like only yesterday?  I swear I can inhale and still smell that unforgettable baby smell.  So many afternoons of laying on the couch with her on my chest, head tucked beside my cheek and me just breathing her in.  That scent just reaches in and wraps right around your heart, I swear.

*sigh*

Where does the time go?

In light of the distinct lack of babies around these parts, I looked elsewhere for inspiration. During a break in the rain today, I went out for a drive, knowing exactly where I was going, and found my shot ...

lewis-carroll-poem

One of my favourite roads to explore.  It's gorgeous and incredibly quiet.  So quiet that the crunch of  gravel under your feet sounds like gunshots in the stillness.

The poem is, for the most part, a stream setting ... but that's okay.  There's a stream running right along the left hand side here.  Honest.

"hush".

full bodied {166/365}

Day 10 of Creativity Boot Camp (day 10? seriously? wow) and the prompt for today is "full bodied".

I was going to go knocking on my neighbour's door again for his wine bottles and grapes, but then my mind wandered in other directions (shocking, I know) and I eventually came around to this ...

166/365

It started out with the pear being held out in front of a female form.  You know?  A play on the curves of the pear, and the curves of a woman.

But the only available female around here was me and, well let's just say that didn't work out all that well.

*ahem*

Anyways ...

Shot on a white table (glossy finish gave the shadows), against a white wall and then I played around with some textures and masked out the brown pear. And being one who isn't really fond of pears, I'd no idea there were so many varieties at the grocer to choose from!  heh. I bought some green ones too.

Pears are pretty :)

I like this.  I think I'm going to hang it in my kitchen.

drizzled {165/365}

Day nine of Creativity Boot Camp and I had a ball with today's prompt, "drizzle".

This morning, I laughingly joked on facebook about the prompt and the fact that it had finally stopped raining here. Doesn't that just figure? I joked.

Immediately, everybody started on food.

(and I've been hungry ever since)

I had the idea to go over to the local ice cream shop and plead beg cajole ask the owner to make me a delicious looking concoction that I might photograph for my online class.  Pretty please.  With cherries (literally!) on top.

She was a little unsure of my whackjob self, but she agreed!

And better than that, she went all out and totally helped me plan and get this done.

(hi Michelle!  thank you!)

The only available 'drizzle' we had was some yummy hot fudge.  So we did this ...
(well, she did this, technically I stood around and pointed a camera at her)

drizzle!

Not bad, and totally fun! Look at Michelle go with that fudge ... woooot!

(ssshhhh ... she's camera shy)

But you know me, never satisfied. And I couldn't get the idea of a retro looking sundae out of my brain. It was stuck there.  I'm like a dog with a bone when I have an idea.  And her cool pink ice cream shop was begging me to figure it out.

So as I sat there eating my props (homemade props I might add - ice cream from scratch! and omg yummy) I contemplated the situation.

and then .... cherries ... hmmmm ... cherry juice ...

Cherry juice!!!

Well hell, cherry juice will drizzle!

Hello brain, glad you could make it.

from day 165 - ice cream!

Now that's what I'm talking about!

165/365

I only ate part of this one ... shush.

Fun!

All of the shots were processed in lightroom with the peachy fade preset I'm still working on.  I applied some textures to the bottom two shots to give them that soft fun look I was after.

Are you hungry now?  Craving some ice cream?

Thanks again Michelle, for being so kind to this nutbar with a camera.  Your indulgence was totally appreciated :)
