the elements [46/52]

As I mentioned in the link up, when I decided that this week's prompt would be "the elements", I swear Mama Nature looked down on me and had a good ol' giggle. We've gone from sweaters, to t-shirts, to parkas and back again this week. Crazy, crazy weather.

And it snowed! Now, you might hear me groaning about this come January, but right now it puts me in a happy (festive!) mood.

Anyway, it was just a dusting. No harm in that.

No snowshovels either!

Driving home on Thursday, I slammed on the brakes when I saw this ...

stormy skies

Sunny skies to the left of me and stormy ones to the right made for a really cool scene with the setting sun lighting up this barn like a movie set. You can see it reflecting off of the lighter skies behind the barn too. It had just started to snow when I snapped this. Hence the spots. Bit of light contrast here and web sharpening. That's it. It really was this cool (click through to view larger on flickr).

The morning after, and me keeping myself occupied in the drive-thru lane.

this way to hot coffee

Gotta have my Tims in the morning :)

(love those bokeh snowflakes!)

Saturday, after driving daughter to work, I made my over to Island Lake and had a walk around. Good for the soul, that place.

good morning

I have a few more to share from that morning. Another day.

It's warmed up a bit but I think we've seen the last of our prolonged Indian Summer. Snowy skies from here on in, I'll bet.

I'll be the one humming Christmas carols ;)

sunshine [31/52]

I can't count how many times I've ended up in this field down the street, taking photos of this grass.

I just love the way the evening light plays with it. It glows.

fields of light

And this, a little later on ...

walkin' on sunshine

I played around with this one, adding a little haze and a texture from Kim Klassen. The original photo was darker as the sun was going down behind the trees and I didn't want to dial up and miss the flare. As it was, I over-exposed the sky. heh.

I like this light, breezy version though, although it did cover that awesome purple flare just a little too much.

Still, I like it.

And now I'm off to check out the rest of your work. What I've seen so far, here and in the flickr pool, is really blowing me away. You guys really rocked this one :)

sometimes you just don't have a title {336/365}

It's a barn :)

336/365

Is it Friday yet? My brain has had enough of this week and has, apparently, shut down.

If you have a title for this, please share :)

autumn haze {285/365}

every leaf speaks bliss to me,

fluttering from

the Autumn Tree.

~ Emily Bronte

sun haze 285/365

I planted this tree around seven years ago now. It was barely taller than I am, with a skinny little trunk and an embarrassing amount of leaves.

And now it fills my second story window.

I can't tell you how much pleasure and satisfaction that gives me.

As for Emily Bronte?
I think the poor woman was more than a little bit off her head.

But she sure could write :)

bench flare {256/365}

I'm going to be all kinds of sad when the flares and late summer evenings go away ...

bench flare 256/365

Honestly, sun flares put a huge smile on my face. It's crazy how excited and snap-happy I get.

It was absolutely gorgeous outside this evening.

Happy *Bench Monday!

PS - This photo ended up costing me $9.20 at Booster Juice.  Robbery!  Darn kids ;)
