lollipop, lollipop {224/365}

Yep ... another ear worm for you.

Y'r welcome!

*ahem*

Must be my lucky week.  Daughter has actually been in my camera sights twice in as many days.

(I miss the toddler years ... photos daily! *sigh)

Anyways ...

She and her friend came home with goodies and my first words were pretty much "can I get a picture?"

heh.

224page

Cool, right?

Not so, says my girl. According to her, that wonderful girl who I love with all of my heart, blood of my blood, blahblahblah ... according that her, my "camera doesn't take good pictures of her".

Yes, you heard that right. uh-huh.

Double slap.

Good thing she's cute :)

Processed with my Peachy Fade lightroom action.

Yes, I'm STILL working on that sucker. Shush.

drizzled {165/365}

Day nine of Creativity Boot Camp and I had a ball with today's prompt, "drizzle".

This morning, I laughingly joked on facebook about the prompt and the fact that it had finally stopped raining here. Doesn't that just figure? I joked.

Immediately, everybody started on food.

(and I've been hungry ever since)

I had the idea to go over to the local ice cream shop and plead beg cajole ask the owner to make me a delicious looking concoction that I might photograph for my online class.  Pretty please.  With cherries (literally!) on top.

She was a little unsure of my whackjob self, but she agreed!

And better than that, she went all out and totally helped me plan and get this done.

(hi Michelle!  thank you!)

The only available 'drizzle' we had was some yummy hot fudge.  So we did this ...
(well, she did this, technically I stood around and pointed a camera at her)

drizzle!

Not bad, and totally fun! Look at Michelle go with that fudge ... woooot!

(ssshhhh ... she's camera shy)

But you know me, never satisfied. And I couldn't get the idea of a retro looking sundae out of my brain. It was stuck there.  I'm like a dog with a bone when I have an idea.  And her cool pink ice cream shop was begging me to figure it out.

So as I sat there eating my props (homemade props I might add - ice cream from scratch! and omg yummy) I contemplated the situation.

and then .... cherries ... hmmmm ... cherry juice ...

Cherry juice!!!

Well hell, cherry juice will drizzle!

Hello brain, glad you could make it.

from day 165 - ice cream!

Now that's what I'm talking about!

165/365

I only ate part of this one ... shush.

Fun!

All of the shots were processed in lightroom with the peachy fade preset I'm still working on.  I applied some textures to the bottom two shots to give them that soft fun look I was after.

Are you hungry now?  Craving some ice cream?

Thanks again Michelle, for being so kind to this nutbar with a camera.  Your indulgence was totally appreciated :)

faded {154/365}

Amongst the many projects I have on the go (too many really, it's a problem) I've also been working on some presets for lightroom.  There's the Route66 set that I still have in the works, and now this soft, faded vintage looking set that I have no idea of what it's name will eventually be.

Soft Faded Vintage?

*ahem*

Anyways ... my shot for the day ...

154/365

And a sneak peak at what I'm working on ...

presets

No further adjustments were done, other than web resolution and my name.  What do you think of them so far?

(I think my shot today should be a little brighter, but whatever)

Oh! and the flowers are from my lemoine deutzia bush.  And just an FYI for you, should you decide you like the looks of this gorgeous shrub, do NOT plant it near your front walkway.  It's beautiful and smells amazing and guess who likes that sort of thing?

Bees :)

You come to my house this time of year?  You're doing a dash to the door.

I should get a shot of that tomorrow. hehee ...

antique roadshow {117/365}

Today was a perfect day for touring around.  Bright, sunny and clear but holy crap chilly!  So I took full advantage of the (somewhat) gorgeous day and hopped in the car.  Plus I'd promised daughter I'd drive her to her middle-of-nowhere school.

And than I ended up here ...

117/365

I took a ton of shots and scored an old wooden pop crate for $8. Go me!

While processing these, I was trying to get a retro/vintage, kind of cross-processed look and ended up making my own preset. Well actually, I made four, each one slightly different (sharper, softer, lighter, etc).  Fun! I love it. I may hate it tomorrow, but I'm loving it right now.

117-before-and-after

So yeah, before and after.  What do you think? I know of at least one person who's going to like the original better. *ahem.  Looking at it, I probably could've eased up on the contrast a tad. meh.

I need a name for it.  I keep thinking Route66, but that might be just because of the photos.  Or the fact that I'd rather be driving there than here?

A few more from today (click through to view larger on flickr).  I still need to upload the rest ...

from day 117 from day 117

from day 117 from day 117

I processed all of them with that preset. The only thing I opened PS for was the watermark. One of these days I'll learn a quicker way to do that.

lovin' it {61/365}

Husband left for Montreal this morning, so daughter and I decided to partake in (of ?) some fine dining,  just us girls.

See that look in her eye?  That's my girl getting a kick out of her Mom, as opposed to the usual eye roll whenever I whip out the camera.  See?  Breakin' her down.  LOL ...

Last I heard, she was stealing that shot for her crackbook profile pic.

The girl rocks the Big Mac.  And I can't get that theme song out of my head ...

'ba-da-ba-ba-baaaaa I'm loving it'!  arrrggghhhhh ...

But speaking of lovin' it, I am now the proud owner of Lightroom.  I spent a few hours today, playing around, and have to conclude that I am head over heels in LOVE.  L-O-V-E.  LOVE!

Where have you been all my life?

I predict many hours of web-scouring for presets and goodies.

________
EDITED TO ADD:  I'm getting more than a little perturbed with the way my photos are displaying here.  The difference in colour and clarity from here to flickr is ridiculous.  Does anybody have an answer?  Is it wordpress?  My template?  My server?  Anyone?  Bueller?

It's pissing me off.

UPDATE EDIT:  Screw it.  I'm just going to link from flickr and be done with it.
