sun lovin' {171/365}

Sundays and places like this just kind of go hand in hand ...

171/365

and that's all I've got for today.  It's been a crazy weekend.

for the love of flares {170/365}

Honestly?

I'm pretty sure I peed my pants when I opened this shot on my screen ...

flared 170/365

I was playing around with the sun and light but I had no idea I had captured this coolness. I'm totally, most geekily, thrilled. heh.

I processed it with one of the many fabulous free actions from Isabelle Lafrance.  This one is Make It Last from her Lift Up Your Soul set.  Isabelle is one talented lady. And generous! (and a fellow Canadian .. woot!) You can check out her inspiring photostream on flickr and be prepared to stay awhile.

Here's the original shot, SOOC (straight out of camera) ...

170SOOC_web

You can see how the action and a few tweaks and adjustments that I made on the first one, deepened the colours and made everything rich and bright.

Thanks Isabelle!

You know, years ago (many, many years ago!) when I didn't know how to do anything other than press the button on a toss-away film camera from the drugstore, shots like these with sun flares or 'strange' light would show up here and there and I'd throw them in the garbage, cursing them for being ruined.

Ruined!!!

omg.

and then there was ice cream {118/365}

or maybe not ...

This other shack is off to the right of the building ...

from day 118

Can't lie - I took these yesterday on my road trip travels.  But! I processed them today, so that counts.

I said so.

I used the preset I mentioned yesterday and it's working like a charm, I think.  Still liking it!

sign, sign, everywhere a sign {42/365}

I went back out today to try to get a shot of the elusive black train engine that the sun refuses to shine a little bit of light on and make me a happy girl.

No dice.

I don't think I'd be having such a problem if it were summertime.  But right now, everything I'm trying in order to get the train exposed properly ends up blowing out the mountains of flipping snow surrounding it.

I'll figure it out sooner or later!

For now, there's this ...

This one is SOOC and I love the color pop on it, but you know me - can't stop fooling around ...

I so love the retro-ish look, and I'm getting a little better at it (I think/hope!) but I also love being able to say, hey look at the SOOC I took!  heh.  Hello pride, how are ya?

Kind of silly, really.  But the fact is you get some people that are very snooty about post-processing, and will say things like 'well yeah it's a nice shot but it's photoshopped' and that bothers me somewhat.   I mean, what exactly were all of those photographers doing in their little darkrooms?  Processing.

The further I go with this little 'hobby' of mine, the more I am drawn towards the artistic side of it all.

What about you?  Which shot do you prefer?  Because I still can't decide :)
